Security heightened ahead of Independence day

Chandigarh, Aug 11 (UNI) With Independence Day 2025 approaching, Punjab's Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav has intensified security preparations across the state. On Monday, he conducted a series of high-level meetings and outreach programs in Amritsar, Jalandhar, and Ludhiana to review counter-terrorism strategies and ensure a peaceful celebration, following directives from Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
DGP Yadav embarked on an extensive tour, chairing law and order review sessions and engaging with police personnel from various commissionerates and ranges, including Border areas, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, and Ropar. The focus was on strengthening security protocols, enhancing inter-district coordination, and maintaining round-the-clock vigilance to thwart any potential threats in this border state.
In a bid to maintain law and order, DGP Yadav issued strict instructions to all Commissioners of Police (CPs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to bolster security arrangements. This includes setting up high-visibility checkpoints, increasing night patrols, and conducting regular domination operations in crowded areas, snatching hotspots, and other sensitive locations. The aim is to prevent any disruptions and ensure public safety during the national festivities.
