Security forces seize arms, heroin; destroy poppy fields in Manipur

Imphal, Jan 20 (UNI) Security forces continued intensified operations across Manipur, leading to the recovery of arms, communication equipment, and narcotic substances, besides the destruction of illegal poppy cultivation in multiple districts on Monday.
Police on Tuesday said security forces recovered two Baofeng handsets and one P-cap from the Sugnu area under Sugnu Police Station in Kakching district.
In another operation the same day, security forces recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition from the hill range area between Wainem and Aigejang under New Keithelmanbi Police Station in Kangpokpi district. The seized items included five bolt-action rifles, one pistol with an empty magazine, one .22 mm pistol with an empty magazine, seven 12-bore cartridges, two .22 mm rounds, one pompi, and one pompi round.
