Sebastian Stan in talks to join Robert Pattinson in ‘The Batman Part II’

Los Angeles, Jan 7 (UNI) Sebastian Stan may be heading to Gotham City. The Oscar-nominated actor, known for ‘The Apprentice’, is in talks to join Robert Pattinson in DC Studios’ ‘The Batman Part II’, according to Variety.
Stan is no stranger to comic book worlds, having famously portrayed Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Details about his role in the upcoming Dark Knight adventure remain under wraps, including whether he will be an ally or adversary to Bruce Wayne.
Directed by Matt Reeves, the highly anticipated sequel is expected to begin production next spring, aiming for an October 2027 theatrical release from Warner Bros. The first Batman film, which hit theaters in March 2022, grossed USD 772 million worldwide.
The sequel’s script, co-written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, has already added Academy Award nominee Scarlett Johansson to its ensemble.
Returning cast members include Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb (The Penguin), Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Barry Keoghan reprising his role as the Joker.
Johansson and Stan previously shared screen space in several Avengers films, while Stan also worked with Pattinson on The Devil All the Time, a Southern gothic drama released on Netflix in 2020.
Reeves, speaking to Variety at the Emmys in September, reflected on the long journey of the sequel, “It’s been a long journey, but I’m incredibly excited. I’m really proud of the script Mattson and I did.”
He also revealed the lengths taken to protect the story, “We put the script into a secret pouch that literally has a lock on it with a code. Pattinson was in New York at the time, and everything is high security.”
While The Batman Part II isn’t officially part of the newly relaunched DC Universe, it is being developed under James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios banner. The studio launched its new cinematic universe last summer with Superman, which grossed USD 615 million worldwide. Upcoming DC films include Supergirl (June 26), Clayface (September 2026), the Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow (July 2027), and a new Wonder Woman project.
Stan recently appeared in the MCU film Thunderbolts, which underperformed at the box office. His other notable work includes I, Tonya and A Different Man. He is also slated to appear in Avengers: Doomsday and the thriller Fjord.
DC Studios declined to comment on the casting. Stan is represented by CAA and B-Side Management. The news of his involvement was first reported by Deadline.
