Dharamshala, Nov 11 (UNI) The second day of the short-term training programme on Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), organised by the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) at the Central University of Himachal Pradesh, witnessed thought-provoking sessions where experts delved into the scientific, philosophical, and cultural richness of India's intellectual traditions.
The sessions focused on bridging ancient Indian thought with modern perspectives. In the opening session on Mathematical Tradition and Indian Thought, Prof. Ashish Arora delivered a lecture on India's Contribution to the World of Mathematics, emphasizing that India's mathematical legacy extends beyond numbers and formulas, embodying deep philosophical and logical reasoning.
Referring to ancient scholars like Aryabhata, Brahmagupta, Bhaskaracharya, and Madhava, he noted their pivotal role in shaping algebra, geometry, and concepts of zero and infinity. Prof. Arora also stressed the need to reintegrate traditional Indian mathematical wisdom into the modern education system in line with the National Education Policy (NEP-2020).
