SC, UN to hold conference on international arbitration, rule of law

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) A conference will be jointly organised by the Supreme Court of India and the Permanent Court of Arbitration on International Arbitration and the Rule of Law in New Delhi, said an official on Friday.



The three-day conference, to be inaugurated on Friday evening, is being held in collaboration with the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL).



The inaugural ceremony will be held from 5 pm to 6.15 pm at the Supreme Court auditorium on Friday, the official said.



Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Dr Marcin Czepelak Secretary-General of PCA), Anna Joubin-Bret (UNCITRAL Secretary-General), Justice Sanjiv Khanna(Supreme Court judge), Attorney General for India R Venkataramani, Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal (SCBA President) and Justice Indu Malhotra (former Supreme Court judge and PCA Member) will speak at the ceremony.



The valedictory ceremony will be held on September 15 from 3.45 pm to 4.45 pm. Justice Surya Kant, Supreme Court Judge, will preside over the ceremony.



Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta, Dammu Ravi (Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs), Senior Advocate Gourab Banerji( UNCITRAL-CLOUT National Correspondent) and Dr Tulio Di Giacomo Toledo (Senior Legal Counsel and PCA Representative in Singapore), will speak at the ceremony.



The event will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Supreme Court and the 125th anniversary of the PCA.
