SC quashes defamation case against Times of India journalists, urges media to exercise caution

New Delhi, Feb 18 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Tuesday quashed a 2014 criminal defamation case against Jaideep Bose, Editorial Director of Bennett Coleman and Co Ltd, the publisher of The Times of India.
The Court also set aside proceedings against co-accused Nergish Sunavala, Swati Deshpande and Neelam Raj, who were working as correspondents and editors at The Times of India at the time.
The defamation case was filed by M/s Bid and Hammer Auctioneers Private Limited over a newspaper article that allegedly implied that counterfeit artworks were put up for auction.
