SC defers Telangana phone tapping case to Oct 14 after new forensic findings

New Delhi, Oct 8 (UNI) The Supreme Court today adjourned the hearing in the Telangana phone tapping case to October 14, after Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the Bench that vital forensic evidence had recently been recovered during the ongoing investigation.
A bench, comprising Justices B.V. Nagarathna and R. Mahadevan, was hearing the Telangana government’s plea seeking cancellation of anticipatory bail granted to former State Intelligence chief T. Prabhakar Rao, who is accused of orchestrating illegal phone surveillance targeting opposition leaders, journalists and activists during the previous administration.
During the proceedings, Solicitor General Mehta submitted that the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report had yielded “crucial digital material” from the forensic platform, significantly strengthening the prosecution’s case.
