SC declines to extend deadline for Kerala electoral roll revision, will review on December 18

New Delhi, Dec 9 (UNI) The Supreme Court today declined to grant an extension of the deadline for submission of enumeration forms under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Kerala, amid the ongoing local body election process.
The Court said it would revisit the matter on December 18, the current deadline fixed by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
A Bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi was hearing petitions filed by the State of Kerala and various political parties seeking postponement of the SIR process in light of simultaneous local body elections.

SC stays Rajasthan High Court order on removal of liquor shops near highways

New Delhi, Jan 19 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Monday stayed a Rajasthan High Court order directing the removal or relocation of all liquor shops situated within 500 metres of National or State Highways across the State. The Bench comprising Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta passed the interim order after hearing Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for the petitioner, and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta for the State of Rajasthan.

Bengal SIR: SC issues detailed directions to ECI on ‘logical discrepancies’ in West Bengal voter revision
