SC adjourns hearing on Maa Durga temple Dispute in HP, Maintains interim order

New Delhi, Apr 21, (UNI) The Supreme Court on Monday continued the interim relief in a dispute concerning the Maa Durga Temple in Himachal Pradesh, arising from a Himachal Pradesh High Court order in a criminal quashing petition under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
A bench headed by Justice Vikram Nath heard the matter, which involves a conflict between two factions over the control and management of the temple. The dispute centers on allegations that one faction replaced centuries-old idols with new ones to assert authority over the temple.
Senior Advocate Parameshwar, representing one of the factions, explained that the High Court had directed the replacement of the new idols with the original ones. However, opposing counsel contended that the original idols had been stolen and that the new idols were installed during the temple's reconstruction.
