Sarah Tapscott to lead queer sports rom-com 'Playing the Field Set'

Los Angeles, Apr 13 (UNI) The celebrated queer sports romance Cleat Cute by Meryl Wilsner is being adapted for the screen as 'Playing the Field Set', which is to be frontlined by Sarah Tapscott.
Tapscott will take on the roles of showrunner, writer and executive producer. Other executive producers include Jeff Wachtel and Jared Berenholz for Future Shack Entertainment, Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe for A Touch More, Camille Bernier-Green, Emily Rasenick, and Wilsner.
Playing the Field is an ensemble comedy following the sexy, messy, and exciting lives of four female players on Crescent City, a professional New Orleans women’s soccer team, anchored by the will-they-won’t-they romance of newly drafted phenom Phoebe Matthews and team captain Grace Henderson.
The source novel, published by Macmillan in September 2023, was well received for its fresh take on queer romance within the world of women’s sports, according to DEADLINE.
Tapscott brings with her a strong background in comedy-driven storytelling, having previously worked on shows like "The Sex Lives of College Girls", "The Big Leap", "New Girl", "Single Parents" and "Life in Pieces". While under a deal at 20th Century Fox, she worked on "New Girl", "Single Parents" and "Life in Pieces", and developed multiple scripts. UNI NST CDS
