Sanjay Raut warns of President's Rule, after Maha Legislative Assembly violence

Mumbai, July 18 (UNI) After a shocking incident of gang-style violence occurred inside the Maharashtra Legislature premises last evening raising serious concerns about security, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut today expressed alarm over the situation, warning that if such lawlessness continues, the imposition of President’s Rule in the state may become inevitable.
The violence broke out in the lobby of the Vidhan Bhavan between workers of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-SP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The confrontation reportedly turned into a full-blown physical altercation last evening. Police intervened and detained workers from both sides.
BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar confirmed that his own supporters were involved in damaging a police vehicle. He stated that appropriate legal action should be taken against them. However, he avoided answering questions about why he did not personally intervene to stop the violence.
