Sam Asghari responds to Britney Spears’ DUI arrest: “People make mistakes and deserve privacy”

Washington, Mar 7 (UNI) Pop singer Britney Spears’ ex-husband, model and actor Sam Asghari, has spoken out following her recent DUI arrest, urging privacy and understanding. In an interview with a television news channel, Asghari reflected on the incident, emphasizing that everyone sometimes makes mistakes, according to People.
“When it comes to people making mistakes, I understand that,” said the Tehran-born Asghari. He added, “I think that everyone deserves privacy. And I hope the press has learned from the past, that they give her the privacy that she needs.”
Asghari also noted that his focus has been on the ongoing Iran war, highlighting his own attention elsewhere.
According to People, Spears, 44, was arrested on March 4 in Ventura, California, on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. She was released the following morning.
The California Highway Patrol reported that Spears’ black BMW 430i was driving erratically at high speed before being pulled over. Officers observed signs of impairment and requested field sobriety tests, after which she was arrested for what appeared to be DUI involving a combination of drugs and alcohol. The case remains under investigation.
A representative for Spears told People, “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney's life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”
Spears and Asghari’s relationship began in 2016, culminating in marriage in June 2022, followed by separation in July 2023. Their divorce was finalized in May 2024 by a Los Angeles County judge, according to People magazine.
Asghari’s comments underscore a call for compassion and discretion amid public scrutiny, emphasizing that personal mistakes should not overshadow the support and privacy individuals deserve.
