Russian ambassador warns about external interference in Serbia

Belgrade, Feb 8 (UNI) The deadly collapse of a train station's roof in the Serbian city of Novi Sad is being exploited by outside forces to interfere in the Balkan nations' domestic affairs and potentially trigger another "color revolution," Russian Ambassador Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko told Sputnik, commenting on protests that have been rocking Serbia since November.
"A lot of protesters are those who took the tragedy in the city of Novi Sad close to their hearts, so, moved by this emotional wave, they continue to participate in the protests without any particular political agenda. It is also obvious — as the president [of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic] has repeatedly said, as well as the prime minister in his resignation speech and Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin — that there is ongoing interference by external factors or an attempt to launch a color revolution, to exploit the tragedy and people's feelings," the diplomat said.
Students and opposition activists have been protesting in Serbia for months following the death of 15 people in the roof collapse in Novi Sad on November 1. Protesters have been blocking the work of many higher education institutions and roads almost daily.
