Rubio, Hegseth brief lawmakers on strikes on Venezuelan ships; Pentagon chief says won't release 'full' footage of Venezuela boat strike

Washington, Dec 16 (UNI) US Secretary of State Marco Rubio briefed lawmakers on the Trump administration's increasing tensions with Venezuela. Conducting business alongside Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Rubio characterized the sinking of Venezuelan ships in the Caribbean as a “counter-drug mission.”
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the Pentagon will not publicly release unedited video of the Sept 2 US military strike that killed two survivors of an initial attack on a boat that the Trump administration alleges was carrying cocaine in the Caribbean, amid mounting questions in Congress about the incident and the overall buildup of US military forces near Venezuela.
Hegseth said members of the Armed Services Committee in the House and Senate would have an opportunity this week to review the video, but did not say whether all members of Congress would be allowed to see it.
