RSP expands market footprint, launches series of breakthrough products

Bhubaneswar, Apr 17 (UNI) Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has expanded its market footprint by meeting specialized customer requirements and achieving significant milestones in the financial year 2024–25.
The plant has launched a series of new initiatives and breakthrough product developments.
In a major step toward product diversification, RSP has successfully forayed into the Indian domestic cylinder segment by commencing bulk production of high-tensile LPG-grade Hot Rolled (HR) coils. This marks the plant’s entry into the lightweight domestic cylinder market and opens new avenues for business in the growing LPG segment.
Another remarkable achievement has been the successful production and supply of API X60M PSL-2 grade HR coils via the non-RHOB route—a first for RSP. This accomplishment not only enhances the plant’s technical prowess but also demonstrates its capability to cater to the stringent requirements of the oil and gas sector.
RSP has also successfully rolled SAILCOR HR coils in wider widths of up to 1830 mm, expanding its portfolio of weather-resistant steel offerings suitable for critical structural and infrastructure applications.
Reinforcing its capability to produce high-specification pipeline grades, the plant produced API 5L X60M PSL-2 grade HR coils through the SMS-2 (non-RHOB) – HSM-2 route, showcasing process flexibility and quality assurance.
In a significant supply breakthrough, RSP produced and dispatched 600 metric tonnes of ASTM A572 Grade 65 HR coils with ultra-low silicon content (Si < 0.06%) in sizes 8/10/12 x 2000 mm to M/s Skipper International, underscoring its precision rolling and customized production capabilities.
The plant also achieved a successful trial and supply of “ASME SA 387 GR 11 CL 2” normalized and tempered plates via the SMS-2 (RHOB) – NPM route, demonstrating excellence in high-grade alloy plate production for pressure vessel and boiler applications.
In the critical thickness segment, RSP carried out successful rolling of HR coils in E250 BR grade at 2.5 mm x 1440 mm, and E350 BR grade in sizes 2.0 x 1250/1150/1160 mm and 2.5 x 1440 mm, further strengthening its supply capability for critical engineering and fabrication sectors.
With these strategic developments, RSP continues to position itself as a preferred supplier of high-end steel products in both domestic and global markets.
