Rs 4,500 cr paid to paddy farmers across UP to purchase 19.14 lakh metric tonnes

Lucknow, Dec 13 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government is placing strong emphasis on the economic prosperity of farmers.
On one hand, it has set up 4,645 procurement centres to facilitate paddy purchase at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and on the other, it is ensuring direct transfer of payments to farmers’ accounts through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).
According to the official data here on Saturday, over 19.14 lakh metric tons of paddy have been procured from more than 3.15 lakh farmers. In return, farmers have been paid over Rs 4500 crore. In addition to this, over ₹421.39 crore has been paid to more than 35,000 farmers who sold millet.
