Rising Leopard sightings on Jubberhatti–Kalon road raise safety concerns

Shimla, Nov 16 (UNI) Residents of Jubberhatti–Kalon are increasingly alarmed over heightened leopard activity along the road over the past 10–15 days, putting people, livestock, and pets at risk.
Recent incidents include a dog being seized by a leopard and a biker being chased, though the rider narrowly escaped. Locals estimate that four to five leopards are active in the area, with two even spotted in daylight near the airport strip. Earlier attacks have claimed a sheep and another dog, while sightings of wild hares and fowl have noticeably declined.
Villagers expressed concern over unmanned terrain, which allows leopards to move freely through roadside trees, hilltops, and areas near human habitations from dusk to dawn, preying on dogs, domestic animals, and potentially humans.
