Revanth Reddy announces land for FICCI, reaffirms push for women-led entrepreneurship

Hyderabad, July 18 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday reiterated his government's commitment to women-led development, announcing the allocation of 1,000 square yards of land near Shilparamam in Hitech City for the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) to establish its headquarters and one acre in Bharat Future City to make the organisation a partner in the State's flagship development project.
Addressing a meeting with women entrepreneurs of the FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), the Chief Minister said the Congress government came to power with the support of women and described their blessings as the government's greatest strength.
He said 22 Indira Mahila Shakti Bhavans with corporate-standard facilities were nearing completion in district headquarters to serve as centres for training, marketing and business activities.
Revanth Reddy said the government had already allotted land worth Rs 1,000 crore near Shilparamam for the Indira Mahila Shakti Bazaar, where more than 150 shops have been allotted to women's self-help groups (SHGs) to market rural handicrafts and traditional products.
He also said the government was considering establishing another industrial park for women, following the success of the FLO industrial park.
Highlighting the government's initiatives for women's empowerment, the Chief Minister said Telangana has around 67 lakh women SHG members, who have received loans worth Rs 16,000 crore.
He said women are now operating petrol bunks, managing 27,000 government schools, stitching uniforms for 27.5 lakh government school students, and would generate 1,000 MW of solar power under the Indira Mahila Shakti programme.
He added that foundation stones had been laid for 8,000 Indira Stree Shakti Bhavans across the State and efforts were underway to market SHG products globally through Amazon.
Referring to the Mahalakshmi scheme, Revanth Reddy said it was not merely a free bus travel initiative, as women had become owners of nearly 1,000 RTC buses by leasing them to the transport corporation.
The Chief Minister said Telangana aims to raise its contribution to the national GDP from 5 per cent to 10 per cent, with targets of becoming a USD 1 trillion economy by 2034 and a USD 3 trillion economy by 2047.
He also announced that he would hold meetings with women entrepreneurs once every three months to promote women-led enterprises.
Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, Chief Minister's Advisor Ramakrishna Rao, FLO National President Pooja Garg, FLO Hyderabad Chairperson Sita Reddy Gaddam and several women entrepreneurs attended the programme.
