Residents of eight village of Bagi Panchayat refused to be a part of township

Shimla, Jan 11(UNI) Amid mounting opposition to the proposed Rs 1,374-crore Jathiya Devi satellite township near Shimla, the Gram Panchayat Bagi has formally refused to be a part with any land for the project.
A resolution to this effect was passed with an overwhelming majority during a Gram Sabha meeting held on Saturday at the Jathiya Devi Panchayat Bhawan.
The meeting was chaired by Panchayat pradhan Naresh Kumar Thakur and vice-pradhan Des Raj. Addressing the media, Des Raj told UNI that the resolution reflected the collective will of the villagers and categorically rejected the Congress government’s proposal to provide land for the Jathiya Devi township.
