Ravi slams Gruha Lakshmi curbs, alleges bid to cut beneficiaries

Bengaluru, June 11 (UNI) BJP MLC and former BJP National General Secretary CT Ravi on Thursday questioned the Karnataka government's decision to impose conditions on the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, alleging that the move was aimed at reducing the number of beneficiaries due to financial constraints.
Addressing mediapersons here, Ravi asked why conditions were being introduced now when no such restrictions were mentioned during the Congress party's election campaign.
He recalled that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had promised welfare benefits to all eligible beneficiaries without conditions and accused the government of backtracking on its assurances. Referring to the state's guarantee schemes, he alleged that the government was struggling to sustain them because of an empty treasury.
