Varanasi, May 13 (UNI) Large public meetings were held in six assembly constituencies of Varanasi district on Wednesday to promote Jyotishpeethadhiswar Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati's "Gavishti (Cow Protection Religious War)."
The attendees collectively chanted the Vedic mantra "Aham Hanmi Vritram Gavishtau" and pledged to protect cows.
Delivering a sermon on "Recognize Kalanemi," Shankaracharya said there is a fundamental difference between past invasions and the current one. In the past, the enemy's identity was clear, which is why we were able to fight and defeat him. In the current attack, the enemy has assumed our own guise—a tilak on the forehead, "Jai Shri Ram" on the lips, and saffron around the neck—and internally supports cow slaughter. This is the biggest challenge facing Hindu society today.
