Rare coincidence as two husband–wife pairs enter Ambajogai civic house

Beed, Jan 19 (UNI) A rare and much-discussed political coincidence has emerged from the Ambajogai municipal council elections, where two husband–wife pairs will now serve together as public representatives in the civic body. The development has drawn attention in political circles as such an arrangement is considered uncommon in local self-governance.
From Ward 9, Lokvikas Maha Aghadi candidate Dipatai Lomte secured victory and entered the municipal council for the first time as an elected councillor. Adding to the uniqueness of the situation, her husband, senior politician Babanrao Lomte, has been selected as a nominated councillor.
Babanrao Lomte had contested the election from Ward 8 but faced a narrow defeat. Despite the loss, he continues his association with the municipal council through nomination. He has previously served three consecutive terms as a councillor and has also held the post of deputy president of the municipality, making him an experienced figure in local politics.
