Raman Arora and Kikki Dhillon appear before the ED in disproportionate assets cases

Chandigarh, June 11 (UNI) Punjab Aam Aadmi Party MLA Raman Arora and former Congress MLA from Faridkot Kushaldeep Singh alias Kikki Dhillon appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Jalandhar on Wednesday in connection with separate cases related to alleged disproportionate assets and money laundering, officials said.
Raman Arora, who represents the Jalandhar Central Assembly constituency, appeared before the ED for the second time within nine days. He had earlier been questioned for nearly nine hours by the central agency on June 2. Arora, who maintained distance from the media before entering the ED office, is facing an investigation into a disproportionate assets case that originated from a Vigilance Bureau FIR and led to his earlier arrest by state authorities.
Officials said the ED has initiated a money laundering probe based on allegations that Arora accumulated assets beyond his known sources of income. He has also been accused of exerting pressure on shopkeepers and commercial establishments to extort them. According to the Vigilance Bureau, Arora allegedly conspired with Assistant Town Planner Sukhdev Vashisht to issue illegal notices, using threats of sealing and demolition to extract money for settlement or withdrawal of cases. The ED had directed him to appear on June 2 for recording his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
