Rakesh Roshan reveals Krrish 4 delays due to financial constraints

Rakesh Roshan reveals Krrish 4 delays due to financial constraints

Mumbai, Feb 4 (UNI) 2006 release "Krrish" has been part of childhood for many and it succeeded 2003 "Koi Mil Gaya" which was a meteoric hit which paved the way for the "Krrish" franchise.

The franchise remains one of Bollywood's most celebrated superhero sagas. While "Krrish 4" was officially announced, updates regarding its progress have been scarce. Recently, Rakesh Roshan, the visionary behind the series, shed light on the challenges hindering its development, citing budgetary limitations as a major roadblock.

In a candid conversation with Galatta Plus, Roshan acknowledged the audience's patience but explained why the project has been stalled. “I know people have been waiting for a long time now. But somehow, we have been unable to get the budget right. The scale of the movie is quite massive this time.

"If I try to reduce the scale, the movie just seems like a common film. Moreover, the world has become small now. These days, kids have been exposed to several superhero films. Even if the smallest error will be caught by them and it will get criticised. So we have to be very very careful," he said.

Roshan further elaborated on the financial disparity between Indian and Hollywood productions, emphasising the need for a strategic approach to storytelling.

“We cannot make movies of that level. We cannot afford that much costs. Our budget doesn't allow us. If their total budget for such films is Rs. 1000, then we have to make the same movie in just Rs. 4. Due to such financial constraints, we as movie makers have to focus on making better stories. Currently, we are working towards one such story. Although I do assure that there will definitely be high-octane sequences – may be there will only be 2 or 3 instead 10 – but it will surely be a part of the film!"

For the uninitiated, "Krrish" stars Hrithik Roshan in a dual role as Dr. Rohit Mehra, a scientist and his superhero son Krishna Mehra aka Krrish. The series also stars Priyanka Chopra as Krrish's wife, Priya Mehra, alongside an ensemble cast of Naseeruddin Shah, Rekha, Sharat Saxena and Manini Mishra. UNI XC SSP
