Rajnath Singh virtually dedicates 19 infra projects to J&K

Jammu, Oct 12 (UNI) Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday virtually inaugurated 75 Infrastructure Projects constructed by Border Roads Organization (BRO) for Rs 2236 Crore from, Headquarters Trishakti Coprs, Sukhna, West Bengal.
During the occasion, Prem Singh Tamang, Chief Minister of Sikkim, COAS Gen Upendra Dwivedi, Defence Secretary-Designate R K Singh and many other dignitaries were present.
BRO completed the construction of these critical strategic projects in the record time frame and many of these Projects have been constructed in a single working season using state-of-the-art technology.
Out of these, the Defence Spokesman said that project 19 have been constructed in UT of J&K, and 11 in UT of Ladakh.
The Projects in Jammu and Kashmir, he said have been constructed by Project Sampark which was raised in Jan 1975 and has grown in strength to strength and workload. The construction of roads and bridges in J&K is being carried out by Project Sampark in tough and harsh climatic conditions, and diverse terrain which has been highly appreciated by the local populace, civil administration and Army Formations.
The construction of nine bridges which include Sanu, Chanani and Korga having spans of 40m, 50m and 55m respectively over the road Domel-Jindra-Kharta, Dersu bridge with 16 m span on road Dhar-Udhampur, will provide all-weather connectivity to forward defence line of Armed Forces, civilian vehicles and upper region/ reaches of Udhampur, Kathua and Jammu districts. It will also boost the socio-economic development of local inhabitants by generating new opportunities for employment and tourism businesses.
Naigarh and Nantoo bridge with 75m and 35 m span constructed on road Dul-Galhar in J&K (UT) as also the road Galhar-Sansari will provide all-weather connectivity to local inhabitants, tourist and pilgrims spot i.e. Machil Mata Yatra, Buddhist festival at Paddar generating new opportunities for employment and tourism business.
Biyalu, Sewa-II and Sawan bridges with a span of 40, 47 and 37m respectively have been constructed on Road Basholi-Bani-Badherwah. The Road Basoli-Bani-Bhaderwah will also enhance the socio-economic potential of the region and will serve as a lifeline for the people in the upper reaches of the Kathua District and connectivity between the higher reaches of Bani and Bhaderwah to the commercial town Basholi.
The construction of Road Bishnah-Kaulpur-Khojipur will improve all-weather connectivity to the commuters in the border areas of the Samba District and will boost the socio-economic development of local inhabitants.
The Defence Minister reaffirmed the Government’s resolve to ensure better infrastructure development in border areas keeping in view the Nation’s security needs.
He expressed his confidence in BRO’s contribution to Nation-building by promoting enhanced defence preparedness and ushering economic development in the Border States through improved connectivity despite tremendous challenges of terrain and weather conditions.
