Rahul Gandhi to visit Dalit lynching victim’s family in Fatehpur

Fatehpur, Oct 15 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and senior Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit Fatehpur district in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday to meet the family of Hariom Valmiki, a Dalit man who was beaten to death earlier this month after being mistaken for a thief in Rae Bareli district.
According to the Congress leader's schedule, Rahul Gandhi will depart from Delhi at 8:00 AM in a special flight and land in Kanpur. From there, he will travel by road to Fatehpur and meet the grieving family between 9:15 AM and 9:45 AM. Following his visit, Gandhi will return to Kanpur and continue his day-long program by heading to Assam.
Speaking about the visit, Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai said, “Rahul Gandhi has been closely following the case and has already spoken to the victim’s family. His visit is aimed at showing solidarity with the bereaved family and reaffirming the Congress party’s commitment to stand by those who have been victims of injustice.”
