Quality of products should align with inter'l standards, says Piyush Goyal

New Delhi, Feb 17 (UNI) Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday emphasised on the quality of Indian products and said that apart from finding new markets for Indian goods in global exports, the value addition chain will have to be strengthened.
''I would endorse the issue of quality standards and urge all to participate to align with international standards,'' said Mr Goyal addressing at the DPIIT- Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Partnership Forum on Public Procurement for Make in India.
''Unless we look to scale, we will be out-priced and out of the market very soon,'' he stated.
Stressing on increasing the share of Indian products in global exports, Mr Goyal said that micro, small and medium industries sector can play an important role in this.
He said that instead of exporting raw materials, emphasis should be placed on value-added products, but quality will play an important role in this.
The Union Minister said that apart from finding new markets for Indian products, new items should also be kept at traditional markets in international markets.
Referring to the 'Vivad se Vishwas' scheme, which aims to resolve 4.83 lakh direct tax disputes pending in various tribunals, Mr Goyal said industries should take advantage of it and save time and money.
''This will reduce procedural bottlenecks and create a business-friendly environment, he said, adding that for the success of 'Make in India', new markets should be explored,'' he said, adding that ''Standard will be one of the most critical aspects in Make In India.''
This will not only boost domestic industries but will also increase exports, he maintained.

Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Som Prakash and senior officials and representatives of industries were present on the occasion.
