PWD justifies spending on ministers’ bungalows at Ravi Bhavan in Nagpur

Nagpur, Nov 8 (UNI) The Public Works Department (PWD) has come forward to justify the substantial sums being spent on the upkeep and renovation of ministers’ residences at Ravi Bhavan in Nagpur, asserting that the expenditures are both necessary and proportionate to the condition of the ageing properties.
Nagpur Division Superintending Engineer Janardan Bhanuse explained that the government quarters are occupied not only during the winter legislative sessions but also throughout the year, making continuous maintenance essential.
Amid reports that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had voiced dissatisfaction over the high costs and instructed that only vital works be sanctioned, Bhanuse defended the department’s approach. These bungalows are more than 75 years old. They don’t deteriorate all at once. Each year, only a few need major repairs,” he clarified.
