Putin signs law on recognising foreign gov't agencies' organizations as undesirable

Moscow, Aug 8 (UNI) Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday signed a bill into law allowing for the recognition of foreign and international organizations, which were founded by or with the participation of foreign government agencies, as undesirable organizations, the document, posted on the government legal portal, showed.
Previously, foreign or international non-governmental organizations that threatened the constitutional order, defense capability and security of Russia could be recognized as undesirable. The activities of organizations were also recognized as undesirable if there was information about the provision of intermediary services by an organization in carrying out a transaction with funds or other property belonging to an organization that had already been recognized as undesirable.
The approved law established that the activities of a foreign or international organization, that is not part of a government structure of a foreign state and a founder or participant of which is a government agency of a foreign state, may also be recognized as undesirable on the territory of Russia. The law does not apply to international intergovernmental organizations of which Russia is a member.
