Punjab’s daughter Harneek Kaur scripts historic victory in London polls

Chandigarh, May 9 (UNI) In a moment of immense pride for Punjabis and Sikhs across the globe, Harneek Kaur has created history by winning the Mayfield ward seat in the 2026 London local elections, emerging as a young and inspiring face of the Punjabi diaspora in British politics.
Contesting on a Labour Party ticket in the Redbridge London Borough Council elections, Harneek secured an impressive 1,306 votes after months of extensive grassroots campaigning and direct public outreach. Her victory is being celebrated widely as a landmark achievement for young Asian and Sikh women aspiring to enter politics and public service.
Harneek’s success is being viewed as a testament to hard work, dedication and community engagement. Over the last six months, she personally reached out to thousands of residents, knocking on doors and interacting with local families to understand their concerns and expectations.
