Punjab opt to bat against RR in Jaipur

Jaipur, May 18 (UNI) Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bat first against Rajasthan Royals in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match here on Sunday.
Punjab made a bold call to put runs on the board, with Iyer stating that the wicket "looks fantastic" and suits their strong batting lineup. "The powerhouse has been our batting, so got to make the best use of it. Everyone is in high spirits. The mindset has been strong. Kudos to the Army forces," he added.
Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson, returning to full fitness, admitted he would have preferred to bowl first given the nature of the pitch in the last game against RCB. "Let’s see how it plays out today. I am okay, hundred percent fit," Samson said, adding that Kwena Maphaka and he came into the XI in place of Jofra Archer and Nitish Rana respectively. He also confirmed that Vaibhav Suryavanshi would bat higher up the order due to his good form.
Rajasthan named Kumar Kartikeya, Shubham Dubey, Ashok Sharma, Kunal Singh Rathore and Yudhvir Singh Charak as their Impact Player substitutes, while Punjab Kings listed Vijaykumar Vyshak, Harpreet Brar, Praveen Dubey, Suryansh Shedge and Musheer Khan.
