Punjab: Majithia demands arrest of Akali Dal WPD group members

Chandigarh, Apr 21 (UNI) Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia on Monday demanded the immediate arrest of all members of the WhatsApp group linked with the Akali Dal 'Waris Punjab De' (WPD) party and MP Amritpal Singh who were planning the execution of high-profile politicians including the Union Home Minister.
The SAD leader released what he claimed to be audio clips of MP Amritpal Singh in which the latter purportedly admitted his relation with gangsters and also having indulged in dacoities. Majithia demanded a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the entire matter.
Majithia announced that he would forward "all the evidence in his possession" to the Centre as the Punjab Police had become "politicised" and could not be trusted to probe Amritpal and his gang. He also questioned why Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was silent on such a crucial matter.
