Punjab: ECI introduces mobile phone deposit facility to enhance voter convenience

Chandigarh, Jun 17 (UNI) In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has decided to introduce the mobile phone deposit facility at all polling stations from the upcoming bypolls/
Ludhiana West Assembly constituency in Punjab is among the seats going to the hustings on June 19.
The new facility, based on instructions issued by the ECI on May 23, aims to enhance the voter experience while at the same time upholding the secrecy of voting as mandated under Rule 49M of the Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961.
