Punjab cops arrest 4 men involved in mobile tower equipment thefts

Sangrur (Punjab), June 14 (UNI) The Sangrur police have arrested 4 members of an inter-state gang involved
in over 100 mobile tower equipment thefts in the state, SSP Sartaj Singh Chahal told media on Saturday, adding the suspects were arrested after a thorough investigation.
The accused were identified as Ramkaran Singh alias Laddi, Avtar Singh, Prem Singh, and Rupinder Singh alias Chinu. They were found to be involved in stealing valuable equipment from mobile towers and selling them. A car and 31 GCU1 cards were recovered from their possession.

Punjab Cabinet approves stringent law to curb sacrilege with harsh penalties

Chandigarh, July 14 (UNI) In a decision aimed at ensuring stringent punishment for those committing sacrilege, the Punjab Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, today approved the Punjab Prevention of Offences Against Holy Scripture(s) Bill, 2025, proposing life imprisonment for desecration of sacred texts.
