Punjab: 23-year-old inmate dies under mysterious circumstances in Kapurthala Central Jail

Phagwara, June 21 (UNI) A 23-year-old inmate lodged in Kapurthala Central Jail died under mysterious circumstances late last night, raising serious questions about conditions inside the prison. The deceased has been identified as Gurvinder Singh.
According to sources, Gurvinder’s health deteriorated suddenly during the night. Jail staff immediately rushed him to the Civil Hospital in Kapurthala, where doctors began treatment. However, despite medical efforts, he was declared dead.
Dr Ashish Pal Singh, who was on emergency duty at the hospital, confirmed to the media that Gurvinder Singh succumbed during treatment. “The exact cause of death will only be known after the post-mortem report is released,” he said.
