Providential escapes for passengers as Bus  hangs on a bridge over Mahanadi river

Cuttack, Oct 3 (UNI) Around 40 passengers of a private bus have a providential escape after the bus in which they were travelling skidded off the Jatamundia-Subarnapur bridge over river Mahanadi in Banki area of Cuttack district on Tuesday.

The bus hit the parapet of the bridge and was found dangerously hanging from the bridge.

The bus was on its way to Bhubaneswar from Angul when the mishap occurred. All the passengers got down from the bus safely.

Sources said around ten passengers received minor injuries in the accidents.

Meanwhile Police, fire brigade personnel and officials of the local administration reached the spot and inquired into the incident.

Though the exact cause of the accident is not yet known sources said the accident might have occurred due to a a technical snag.

Since the river is full now, it would have been disastrous had the bus plunged into the river.
