Priyank Kharge slams Bhagwat's 'Echo Chamber' response

Bengaluru, Nov 10 (UNI) Senior Congress leader Priyank Kharge today raised serious questions about the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) receiving tax exemptions for "Guru Dakshina," challenging RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat to defend the move in a public debate rather than a closed gathering.
Kharge criticized Bhagwat for addressing only Swayamsevaks, calling it an "echo chamber" where questions are met with applause rather than scrutiny. "If he is confident about the legality, let the RSS debate with legal and constitutional experts. Not just with people who are already inclined to agree with him," Kharge said.
He questioned the basis of the tax exemption, citing the RSS' multi-crore offices and institutions. "If it is merely a body of individuals, that does not make them exempt from taxes. Just because Bhagwat says so, does it change the law?" he asked.
