Guwahati, Mar 2 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to arrive in Kokrajhar in Bodoland Territorial Areas Districts of Assam on March 13 to inaugurate several developmental projects.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to lay the foundation of railway line between the Gelephu in Bhutan to Kokrajhar and several other projects. He will also address a public meeting in Kokrajhar the same day.
PM Modi's visit to Kokrajhar ahead of the assembly elections assumes significance considering the fact that the alliance between the BJP and Bodoland People's Front (BPF) is yet to be finalised. It may be mentioned here that the BPF came to power in Assam's Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) which runs the administration in BTAD.
While the BJP has alliance with the United People's Progressive Front (UPPL), it lost the BTC election held last year. While the UPPL is still an alliance partner of the BJP led alliance in Assam, the BPF has earlier made it clear that they would join the BJP led alliance only when UPPL is out of the alliance.
"We are yet to finalise the alliance with the BJP. We welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Kokrajhar in March 13," said the BTC, Chief executive member Hagmara Mohilary. He, however, said that the BPF would contest the forthcoming Assembly elections as part of the BJP led NDA.
