Preventing elected government from hoisting flag on I-Day is unfortunate: AAP

New Delhi, Aug 13 (UNI) Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia on Tuesday accused Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena of engaging in petty politics over flag hoisting on Independence Day, calling it unfortunate to deprive the elected government in Delhi of this power.
During a media interaction,Criticising the decision to prevent the elected government from hoisting the flag on Independence Day, Sisodia said, “It is very unfortunate to stop the elected government from hoisting the flag.”
“I read in newspapers that there is a big fraudster in jail, his name is Sukesh, if he writes a letter then the Tihar administration submits it to Lieutenant Governor (LG) Saab and LG Saab also takes action,” Sisodia alleged adding that when the elected Chief Minister of Delhi writes a letter then LG Saab tells the Tihar administration, to be cautious about sending a letter from the Chief Minister.
“Independence Day is a great occasion, if a sitting CM of Delhi has written a letter about it, then LG Saab's office should have made a call to the DG's office and asked that he has heard that CM Arvind Kejriwal has written a letter, where is it? Send it to me. But he did not do that, because he is neither concerned with independence nor the country, his beloved are people like Sukesh Ji,” he affirmed.
Senior AAP leader Atishi also said, "Today, the right of an elected government to hoist the flag is being taken away. Today, a new viceroy has arrived in Delhi, who is saying that he will hoist the flag. Hoisting the tricolour on August 15 is the right of the people of the country, the people of Delhi, and the elected government of Delhi. If the elected government is not allowed to hoist the flag, there can be no greater evidence of tyranny.”
“August 15 is celebrated with the tricolour to mark the day in 1947 when the people of India gained the right to govern themselves. Before that, India was under British rule, and a viceroy was sent to govern as per his whims, without regard for the rights of the Indian people,” she emphasised.
“The tricolour is hoisted on August 15 to represent democracy, freedom, and the voice of the people of India. However, today, the right of an elected government to hoist the flag is being snatched away, as if a new viceroy has arrived in Delhi, claiming the authority to hoist the flag,” Atishi asserted.
