Preserving intangible heritage an integral part of India's foreign policy: Dr Jaishankar

New Delhi, Dec 7 (UNI) India has taken significant steps over the last decade to preserve its intangible heritage, which is an integral part of the country's foreign policy, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar said on Sunday.
Addressing the 20th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage being hosted in the national capital's Red Fort, the Minister said: "Besides being home to several UNESCO sites, India has itself undertaken many preservation and conservation projects across the world. A key dimension of that is the preservation of our intangible heritage.
"In doing so, we acknowledge that traditions, languages, music craftsmanship, festivals and performing arts are invaluable aspects of human heritage; in many ways, they are the most democratic expression of culture, owned by all, guarded by many and enriched by each generation. As a foreign minister, I am proud that conservation of intangible heritage is part of our diplomacy," he said.
