Pratapgarh tragedy: District social welfare officer ends life

Pratapgarh (UP), Sep 11 (UNI) A 40-year-old District Social Welfare Officer today committed suicide through hanging allegedly due to domestic discord in Nagar Kotwali area of Pratapgarh district in Uttar Pradesh, said police sources.
Police sources said that Ashish Kumar Singh, a resident of Pure Keshav Rai village, committed suicide by hanging himself inside his house at around 9 am. "Singh was posted as District Social Welfare Officer in Azamgarh and had come home on leave," they said.
Police sources said that Singh was about to get ready to leave for Azamgarh in the morning when he went to his room after talking on the phone with his wife who was staying at her maternal home. After some time when the family members saw him, he was found hanging from the noose.
