Pradyot Debbarman slams Tripura CM’s opposition to Roman script for Kokborok

Agartala, Dec 15 (UNI) BJP’s partner in the Tripura government, TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarman, expressed his displeasure over a recent statement of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha opposing Roman script for Kokborok (tribal language).
Pradyot advised, “Tiprasa (tribal) people know what our script is; we do not need advice from anybody. If you hate English so much, why are the children of the ministers and BJP leaders going to English medium schools? When tribes are demanding Roman script for their own language, you highlight the exploitation of the British over 200 years.”
Dr Saha, two days ago, in a rally organised by the BJP’s tribal wing, opposed Roman script and pleaded for Devanagari for Kokborok if there is any problem with the Bengali script or any other Indian language.
