Poverty-free village is my dream: Union Minister Chouhan

Hyderabad, Aug 13 (UNI) : Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday said ‘a poverty-free village is my dream’.
Addressing a gathering after attending the 66th general council meeting of the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR) here, Chouhan said “Nobody should be poor in villages and everyone should be employed. Mahatma Gandhi’s vision was Gram Swaraj and when we talk about the development of villages, infrastructural development takes the front seat.”
The villages need proper road connectivity, potable water, strong and spacious school buildings, Panchayat Bhawan, health facilities, late Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee launched Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in 2000, and the projects are taken forward by our visionary Prime Minister Narendra Modi. When rural infrastructure development is discussed, Jal Jeevan Mission is another scheme worth mentioning,” he said.
