Ponnam Prabhakar appeals to rural voters to back Congress in third phase of GP polls

Hyderabad, Dec 15 (UNI) Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Monday appealed to voters in rural areas to support Congress-backed candidates in the third phase of the Gram Panchayat elections scheduled for December 17.
In a video message, the Minister said the Telangana Praja Palana government, under the leadership of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, is implementing development and welfare programmes in every village across the state.
He stated that various welfare schemes are now reaching the grassroots level, directly benefiting rural households. The schemes include the supply of fine rice through ration shops, issuance of new ration cards, construction of Indiramma houses, provision of 200 units of free electricity, interest-free loans to women’s self-help groups, and free travel for women on RTC buses.

The village officer’s stop memo has triggered a controversy ahead of the proposed ‘Kumbh Mela’ on the banks of the Bharathapuzha, to be started next week.
Despite the stop memo, the organisers asserted that the event will go ahead as scheduled.

Met office cautions of fog formation over Chennai airport due to low solar heating

of fog farmation over Chennai airport and surrounding areas due to low solar heating and high
moisture levels resulting in poor visibility during the night and early morning hours for the next
three days till January 17 thereby affecting road traffic, flight operations and rail services.
