Political storm reignites in Maharashtra over Rummy Row as Minister files court response

Nashik, Oct 6 (UNI) Political tensions have flared up again in Maharashtra over the controversial “rummy” incident, with State Sports Minister and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) leader Manik Kokate submitting a formal reply in a Nashik court against NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) MLA Rohit Pawar.
The controversy, which dates back to the monsoon session of the Maharashtra Legislature in Mumbai, resurfaced after Kokate’s legal filing. In it, he accused Rohit Pawar of violating legislative protocols by publicly sharing a video from within the Assembly.
The incident stems from a viral video clip that emerged on the final day of the monsoon session, allegedly showing Kokate—who was then serving as Agriculture Minister—playing online rummy on his phone during Assembly proceedings. The video, posted by Rohit Pawar, sparked widespread outrage and led to Kokate being stripped of his agriculture portfolio. He was later reassigned as the Sports Minister.
