Police seek fresh custody of wrestler Sushil in illegal firearm probe

Chandigarh, 17 (UNI) Haryana Police have questioned wrestler Sushil Kumar after bringing him to Jhajjar on a production warrant in an ongoing investigation related to the recovery of an Italian-made firearm. The police approached the court seeking custodial interrogation; however, permission for remand was not granted at the time.
The case surfaced when police arrested a resident of Birohar village with a foreign-manufactured pistol and six live rounds. During questioning, the accused informed investigators that the weapon had been arranged through Sushil Kumar. He reportedly claimed that no specific task or target was shared with him along with the firearm.
Officials said Sushil was presented before the court on Tuesday to facilitate further inquiry. Due to the absence of police custody, investigators were limited in their questioning and could not pursue detailed interrogation during the production proceedings.
