Police nabs interstate smuggler with poppy straw in J&K's Udhampur

Jammu, July 19 (UNI) Police on Friday cracked an interstate drug smuggling racket and arrested one person with a huge quantity of poppy straw in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said a narcotics smuggling bid has been foiled by recovering 344 kg of poppy straw and arrested one person at a naka point zero more in the Chenani area of district.
Police said that amid ongoing drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, a police team led by SHO Inspector Pushpinder Singh while on naka checking stopped one oil tanker for checking which was coming from Srinagar towards Jammu.

Punjab: Mann govt’s land pooling scheme unconstitutional, anti-farmer, says Chugh

Ludhiana, Jun 13 (UNI) BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh today came down heavily on Punjab's Bhagwant Mann government, berating its "unconstitutional and anti-farmer policies" including the land pooling scheme and demanded it be withdrawn immediately.

During his campaign for the Ludhiana West Assembly bypoll, Chugh met farmer delegations, especially from 37 villages affected by the land pooling scheme. He was handed a detailed memorandum by the farmers, seeking urgent intervention and protection of their land rights.
