Police launch special drive against drinking in public places in Latur, Cases registered against 59 people

Latur, Mar 9 (UNI) The Latur police have initiated a special drive against people consuming alcohol openly in public places across the city. As part of the campaign, cases have been registered against 59 individuals during the past four days for drinking in public and creating disturbances.
According to police officials, several complaints had been received about individuals consuming alcohol in open grounds, deserted locations, and near autorickshaws parked along roadsides in different parts of the city. Such activities were causing inconvenience to residents and disturbing public peace. In some instances, minor arguments among such groups were also escalating into serious disputes.
Taking note of the situation, District Superintendent of Police Amol Tambe directed the police department to take strict action against those involved in such behaviour. Following these instructions, special teams of the Local Crime Branch (LCB) were formed under the leadership of Police Inspector Sudhakar Bawkar to conduct targeted operations in different areas of Latur city.
