PM will lead Yoga Day celebrations at Kolkata's Red Road

Kolkata, Jun 18 (UNI) Kolkata will host the national celebrations of the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) on June 21, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to lead the Common Yoga Protocol at Red Road, where thousands of participants are expected to gather for the event, the Ayush Ministry announced on Thursday.
The preparations and scale of the celebrations were outlined at a curtain-raiser press conference held at Nabanna Sabhaghar in Kolkata. During the event, 12 special philatelic covers commemorating International Day of Yoga 2026 were released by West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and Ayush Minister Prataprao Jadhav.
According to the ministry, Yoga Day events this year are being organised at nearly 2,500 locations worldwide through Indian missions and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). The ministry said participation is expected from more than 210 Indian missions abroad.

Imphal, July 11 UNI : A few abandoned houses of residents belonging to the Meitei community near a security encampment at a village in Imphal West district were burnt on Saturday by a mob of Kuki miscreants evoking wide spread condemnations.
Two persons were apprehended for their alleged involvement in the incident, inviting condemnation from Chief Minister Y Khemchand, his predecessor N Biren and others.
