PM to inaugurate ₹1,700 Cr Kakatiya Mega Textile Park at Warangala in Telangana

Hyderabad, May 9 (UNI) Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi will inaugurate the PM MITRA Park at Warangal, also known as the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP), developed under PM MITRA Scheme, on Sunday.
Developed at an estimated cost of around ₹1,700 crore, it is India’s first fully functional PM MITRA Park and operationalises the Government of India’s 5F vision - Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign.
Strategically located near the proposed Nagpur-Vijayawada Greenfield Expressway (NH-163G) and in proximity to NH-163, the park offers excellent multimodal connectivity to major railway networks and seaports, ensuring seamless logistics for global trade.
Designed as a world-class industrial ecosystem, the park is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure including an extensive internal road network, dedicated power substation and assured water supply.
It also emphasises sustainable development through a Common Effluent Treatment Plant with Zero Liquid Discharge technology.
Telangana is well-suited for cotton production, as 23 per cent of the region is covered by rich black soil. Since the Nizam period, the area has been known for its high-quality cotton.
In 1934, the 7th Nizam, Mir Osman Ali Khan, established the Azam Jahi Mills, which became a hub for textile production and provided employment to 10,000 people.
Following the formation of Telangana, the state TRS government under K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) undertook the initiative to revitalise the textile sector by establishing the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park - named in the honour of Kakatiya Dynasty.
The foundation stone for the park was laid down in October 2017.
The Kakatiya Mega Textile Park was selected as part one of the seven approved sites under the PM-MITRA Scheme’s frameworks.
The KMTP park, however, was approved as a brownfield project, reflecting the already operationalized nature of the park under the Ministry of Textiles’ framework.
The KMTP park, which has been operational for some time, has employment potential of more than one Lakh direct and indirect jobs, making it a significant booster for the Warangal region.
